Welded Pipe VS Seamless Pipe
What is Welded Pipe?
The welded pipe is generally bent and welded after the steel coil is flattened, so carefully observe that there is a weld on the welded pipe. The manufacturing process of welded steel pipe is to bend the steel plate first, and then weld it into round, square and other shapes. Welded steel pipes have the characteristics of high production efficiency, low cost and material saving. It has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, energy, electronics, automobile, light industry and other industries.
What is Seamless Pipe?
The Seamless pipes are divided into hot-rolled seamless pipes and cold-drawn seamless pipes, which are formed by piercing and rolling through round steel, so there is no gap, and the pressure will be better. Seamless steel pipes are mainly used for petroleum geological drilling pipes, cracking tubes, boiler tubes, bearing tubes for petrochemical industries, and high-precision structural steel tubes for automobiles, tractors, and aviation.
Difference Between Welded Tube and Seamless Tube?
A. Different raw materials
The seamless steel pipes are made of ordinary and high-quality carbon structural steel (Q215-A-Q275-A and 10-50 steel), low-alloy steel (09MnV, 16Mn, etc.), alloy steel, stainless acid-resistant steel, etc.;
The welded pipe is made of steel plate or strip steel after crimping and welding.
B. Difference Appearance
The seamless steel pipe is made of billet as raw material. The defects on the outer surface of the billet cannot be eliminated by the hot rolling process, and are only polished after the product is finished. In the process of wall reduction, the defect can only be partially eliminated.
For welded steel pipes made of hot-rolled coils as raw materials, the surface quality of the coils is the surface quality of the pipes, and is easy to control. Hot rolled coils have high surface quality.
C. Different Applications
Seamless steel pipes are widely used in high-pressure equipment, heat, boilers and other industries.
In the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries where budgets are relatively low, welded pipes are preferred and work less stressful on pipes.
