What Is Carbon Angle Steel?
Carbon steel angles are hot rolled or high strength mild steel bars in a 90 degree "L" shape. The sides or legs of the "L" may or may not be equal. Other names for carbon steel angle are angle iron or angle steel.
Angles come in different lengths and sizes. They can also be cut to the desired length as needed. Additional rust protection can be achieved with a red oxide coating or iron manganese metal spray paint to give it an extra finish depending on the application.
A36 angle - also known as angle, angle or steel angle - is a hot rolled mild steel with an L-shaped profile and excellent weldability - ideal for machining, drilling, punching, tapping and grinding.
Angle bars have two vertical planes at 90° to provide strength, stiffness and adequate bending resistance.
Angle steel is used in hundreds of applications - from trailers to truck beds, racks to structural supports, farm equipment to construction tools. Some uses of angle steel are in the manufacture of framing, fabrication, racking, brackets, vehicle manufacturing, construction and maintenance. Angle steel has the largest structural use than any other sector. Examples include riveted, bolted or welded structures of buildings, bridges, machinery, etc. Few other uses are for brooms, rails, supports, beams, pads, truck trailers, truck beds, racks, etc. Further uses of steel angles include the construction of bike racks, motor mounts, and more.
