High Strength Deformed Rebar IS: 1786-1985 is a steel bar with raised, ribbed and protruding surfaces, produced in the form of cold twisted deformed steel bars. High Strength Deformed Steel Bars are widely used in construction for the reinforcement of building structures. With a ribbed or protruding surface, High Strength Deformed Steel Bars allow for minimal sliding in the concrete and increase the strength of the bond between the two materials, thus achieving structural reinforcement of the concrete strength.

High Strength Deformed Steel Bars have greater compressive and tensile stresses than ordinary low carbon steel bars. High strength deformed bars have better anchorage, so they do not need to be anchored to each other in a bent hook structure. This reduces the labor involved in fabricating the rebar. The deformations are spaced at uniform distances across the rebar. The size or cross section of High Strength Deformed Steel Bars is from 4 mm to 50 mm in diameter.

Generally, cracks occur around reinforced concrete due to the stretching of the reinforcement and loss of bond under load. To minimize this problem, High Strength Deformed Steel Bars should be used in RCC work to improve the bond with the concrete.
